Embroidery is the art of decorating fabric with needles, thread and yarn.  I am a big fan of embroidery artwork with yarn.  Here are three vintage works that I have. These pieces have a country craft feel but still embody mid-century style.

Visit to learn how to embroider for yourself!

For local information about embroidery check out Louisville Embroidery at 714 E Chesnut street, The Embroider’s Guild of America at 426 W Jefferson Street, or You’re Sew Vain at 3937 Chenoweth Square

I’m currently in Asheville, NC on vacation this week and wanted to share a few places that are a must to visit.

Harvest Records – this place is set away from downtown but is well worth the visit. They have a great selection of new and used vinyl and had some rare items such as a Robert Johnson box set!

Voltage Records – located downtown on Lexington Avenue, this place also has a great vinyl selection and we found some Nick Drake reissues that we hadn’t seen before.

Ragtime Vintage Clothing – this place offers a wide variety of unique vintage clothes and accessories.

Hip Replacements – This clothing store is a little pricey but had some fabulous vintage and vintage inspired items! They even had some unique items by local artists such as tanks with screen printed mason jars! Check out the 1950s dress below by the brand Trollied Dolly.

For eating here are a few suggestions: The Admiral, Tupelo Honey Cafe, Zambra, Lexington Avenue Brewery
