Learn to Draw a Fox

I’m not a big fan of learning to draw by copying but these easy online tutorials are good because you can add your own style and change things a little bit to make your foxes unique. The first tutorial is my favorite. Just click on the pictures to visit the websites.

Flea Off Market

Tomorrow I’ll be selling at the April Flea Off Market, a once-a-month outdoor bazaar that will take place in the heart of Louisville, off Market on Shelby Street. There will be dozens of vendors each month offering a wide variety of items you’ll want to bring home! There will be books, records, bicycles, kittens, antiques, cool old junk, used tools, fine arts and crafts, fresh-cut-flowers, esoterica, live music, food trucks and entertainments for all ages.

The Flea Off Market is held on the second Saturday of every month, along Shelby Street and in the lot next to Salvo Collective, 216 South Shelby Street (between Market and Nanny Goat Strut Alley). The event lasts from 12-6PM.

Fly Away Fox will be selling a large variety of vintage and handmade items. Here’s a little preview.

Free Monthly Giveaway

Congrats to Paul for winning the owl giveaway in January! February was a crazy month for me and March has been busy too. Since I fell behind and didn’t do a February giveaway,  I’m doing two giveaways this time!

The giveaways are a cinnamon clove rice pack and two headbands.

The rice pack can be heated in the microwave for 1 minute or placed in the freezer. It’s great for sore muscles and fits around your neck perfectly! It measures about 18 inches long. I love the playful fabric.

The headbands are both handmade. The large one measures 3 inches at the top and features a big kelly green bow on brown Toile fabric.  The smaller headband measures about 1/2 inch and is made with a vintage gray fabric with orange/green flowers.

Just comment on this post to be eligible to win! Winners will be announced in early May on the blog.

Pecha Kucha

Pecha Kucha (Japanese: ペチャクチャ, IPA: [petɕa ku͍̥tɕa],[1] chit-chat) is a presentation methodology in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (approx. 6′ 40″ in total), usually seen in a multiple-speaker event called a Pecha Kucha Night (PKN). (from Wikipedia)

Pecha Kucha Night Louisville events are organized by the Urban Design Studio, Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, 21c Museum and the Central Kentucky Chapter of the AIA. The goal of the events are to offer a public venue for people to meet and share their work and ideas in a relaxed social atmosphere.

The next Pecha Kucha presentation in Louisville will be February 21 at Louisville Metro Hall. Doors at 7, Presentations at 8. This Pecha Kucha will focus on Louisville’s history and culture.  Come on out to learn more about your great city! Presenters include: This is Louisville founder Maggie Huber and Broken Sidewalk founder/writer Brandon Klayko.

See you there!
