Gritty Pearl Photography

I recently had a photo shoot with Gritty Pearl Photography.  I have tried for years to do my own photographs but wasn’t satisfied with how they turned out.  I met Amber Estes Thieneman, the talent behind Gritty Pearl, through Block Party Handmade Boutique.

I wanted to get good photographs of my new products so I met with Amber, found some models and we scheduled a time for the photo shoot.  Many thanks to my beautiful models Zane and Lucy! Check out some of Amber’s photographs below.

If you need professional photographs taken of your work, I would highly recommend Gritty Pearl Photography. Whether you’re applying to art fairs, submitting work to stores, or selling on Etsy you need high quality product photos.

Buttons, Bows and Britches

Fly Away Fox items can now be found at Buttons, Bows and Britches in Louisville! This lovely children’s consignment store is located at the corner of Frankfort Avenue and Cannons Lane in the Crescent Hill Neighborhood.

I will be selling beautiful handmade items for little girls. I have a variety of headbands and hair clips on display and my signature aprons as well.  The little red apron has pockets in the front with a cherry patterned fabric. The other apron is one of my favorites. The fabric features two little children hugging. They look like Japanese anime characters dressed in vintage clothes.  Fly Away Fox aprons are all one-of-a-kind and made with vintage and re-purposed material and each one comes with a removable brooch.

All of my headbands are made with vintage and re-purposed material and my hair clips are all made with eco-felt. I have felt flower clips, felt peacock feather clips and a variety of headbands in all colors.

Buttons, Bows, and Britches is located at 111 Cannons Lane.  They are open Monday-Friday 10AM-6PM.

Embroidery Hoops

I love Pinterest and one thing I keep pinning is embroidery hoop artwork.  Check out some of my favorite ones and hopefully you’ll get inspired to make some artwork of your own!

The Encyclopedia of Collectibles

I recently received a gift from my friend Lauren. She’s like a sister to me and found the perfect present to cheer me up while she was at an estate sale. She gave me two sections  from The Encyclopedia of Collectibles.

These collectibles have all kinds of fabulous articles and photos including Barbed Wire, Bicycles and Botanical Prints! Love love love!

Their blog features great tutorials, recipes and more!

Derby Headbands

Fly Away Fox now has Derby headbands available for sale at Salvo, in downtown Louisville on East Market St.  I wanted to show my interpretation of the big and bold on Derby by creating headbands with large flowers and birds’ nests. I used vintage and recycled material in natural colors like brown, orange, red, yellow and green.
