HALE is an industrial design company founded by Jonathan Nesci in 2006. It’s a part-design, part-production firm based dually in Chicago, IL and Scottsburg, IN.

HALE uses a direct, intimate approach in securing quality, detailed, decorative art and fine furniture products from craftsmen in fields beyond the furnishing markets. In many cases, the designs are formed around industry capabilities and employ experts in a variety of manufacturing and production processes.
In a relatively short time, HALE has created a wide range of products and has received recognition from leading design publications such as Wallpaper, Dwell, Metropolitan Home, Surface, and Art + Auction. HALE has won the annual Wallpaper Design Award for the “Library Bookcase,” a minimalist shelf sculpted in aluminum and commissioned by Ugo Alfano’s Casati Gallery. Jonathan’s designs have been viewed in numerous exhibitions including New York’s ICFF, and with Casati at Paris’ Pavillon des Arts et du Design, Design Miami, Design Art London and Milan’s Salone del Mobile.

Bread Pudding

So I love bread pudding and love to make bread pudding. This recipe is by far some of the best bread pudding I’ve had.

Panettone Bread Pudding

  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 stick butter, softened
  • 1 pound Panettone, sliced 1″ thick (you can get it at Trader Joes for $5)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 1/2 cups half and half
  • 2 tblsp pure vanilla extract
  • 4 tblsp bourbon
  • orange zest

Butter Panettone on both sides and cook in skillet until sides are golden brown.   Whisk together remaining ingredients. Tear Panettone into bite-size pieces and spread evenly in a casserole dish. (13×9 is a good size). Pour in liquid mixture and let stand 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees with a rack in the middle. Bake bread pudding until pudding is set about 30-45 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or homemade whipped cream.
