Healthy Smoothie Recipe

I love smoothies and have started making them almost everyday. I’ve had a low energy level for awhile and am constantly tired due to a Vitamin D deficiency.  In my smoothies, I combine raw fruit, raw vegetables and protein for a big punch of natural energy that leaves me feeling great afterwards.

I was randomly adding flavors into the blender and came up with this amazing treat! This smoothie tastes like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It sounds weird but trust me, it is truly delicious.

I purchase a lot of products at Trader Joes and use the individually packaged almonds and the Berry Medley blend in this recipe.

  • 1 1/4 cup berries (you can use any combination)
  • 1 package almonds (about 1/4 cup)
  • handful of kale, 3-4 leaves
  • 1-2 tblsp honey or maple syrup (I start with 1 tblsp then add more to taste)
  • almond milk (I start with 1 cup then add more spoonfuls as needed)
  • 3-4 ice cubes (add more as needed)

Make sure to puree the ingredients really well because with berries and almonds you will end up with little pieces and you want to blend those up as best as possible so your drink is smooth.
